Mr. Monopoly is officially returning to McDonald's. Recently, the iconic fast food chain revealed that its fan-favorite Monopoly event is coming back this October -- along with its coveted $1 million jackpot.
As detailed in a recent press release, the McDonald's App is now allowing fans to pre-register for its official Monopoly collaboration, which is scheduled to kick off at participating restaurants starting Oct. 6.

There are four main Monopoly prize categories. McDonald's "instant-win" lineup features popular items such as the McChicken Snack Wrap, McGriddles, McDonald's smoothies and more. Alternatively, game pieces from the "Instant-Win Loyalty Points" category can award anywhere from 1,500 to 7,000 MyMcDonald's Reward Points, which can be redeemed for "McDeliveries" on the McDonald's App.
The "Collect to Win" award tier, which requires participants to gather multiple property pieces from specific groupings, contains some of the event's highest-value prizes. Highlights include an exclusive Carnival Cruise Vacation, a trip to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, a 2027 Jeep Cherokee and a McDonald's "Free For a Year" gift card worth roughly $1,040.
Peeling a "Chance Card" grants players opportunities to win gift cards for major brands, including GrubHub, Uber Eats, Ulta Beauty and more. Additionally, this tier also boasts cash prizes starting at a minimum of $10k. Alternatively, players can also win capital totaling up to $50k that can be applied exclusively towards home down payments or outstanding college debt. This year's grand prize, available to several lucky winners, is a no-strings cash award of $1 million.
Notably, Mr. Monopoly only just recently returned to American shores. After a decade-long hiatus, the event made its long-awaited comeback in October 2025. For this year's collaboration, McDonald's has "simplified" the experience for participants, integrating it with its official app while also maintaining the classic "peel and reveal" setup for old school players.
McDonald's' Monopoly event made its US debut back in 1987 — nearly 40 years ago. Since then, the iconic board game (and soon-to-be Netflix show) has become an inextricable part of McDonald's wholesome, family and gaming-oriented legacy. "Monopoly at McDonald's is more than just a game. It's about childhood memories, family surprises that make our day," explained Alyssa Buetikofer, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing & Customer Experience Officer at McDonald's USA. "This year, we're giving fans even more reasons to play with bigger prizes, more rewards and a simpler digital game experience that includes the classic peel."
Pre-registration for McDonald's upcoming Monopoly event will remain open from Sept. 22 until Oct. 5. Once the event goes live Oct. 6, rewards can be redeemed in person at participating McDonald's locations or with scannable codes via the McDonald's App.
