After 6 Years, Jujutsu Kaisen Officially Bids Farewell To Mahoraga Forever

The Divine General Mahoraga is one of the strongest entities in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen. Mahoraga exists as a very powerful Shikigami and a part of the Ten Shadows Technique, which is the prized possession of the Zenin clan. He is incredibly powerful and known to be strong enough to withstand combat against the likes of Sukuna and Gojo quite easily.

Mahoraga's adaptation powers make him a force to be reckoned with and, at the same time, an exciting opponent for anyone to take on in battle. However, now, after 6 years, Jujutsu Kaisen is bidding farewell to Mahoraga forever, given that Cursed Techniques are not going to exist any longer in this world.

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Officially Confirms Yuka Okkotsu As The Last Mahoraga User

Mahoraga is a very powerful shikigami who exists as a part of the Ten Shadows technique. The Ten Shadows technique itself is an Inherited Cursed Technique that is passed down within some members of the Zenin Clan. In the original Jujutsu Kaisen series, the Ten Shadows Technique was wielded by none other than Megumi Fushiguro. In Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, which is the sequel to the original story by Gege Akutami, set 68 years after the events of the Shinjuku Raid, Mahoraga is wielded by none other than Yuka Okkotsu. Originally, Mahoraga made his first appearance in the series in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 117, released officially on August 11, 2020, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Double Issue #36-37.

Over the past 6 years, Mahoraga has truly stood out as one of the most exciting enemies for anyone to face in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen. Be it the battle against Sukuna in Shinjuku, the battle against Gojo in Shinjuku, or the battle against Dabura Karaba, the strongest of the Simurian race and the man known to be on the same level as Ryomen Sukuna himself, Mahoraga has been a phenomenal force for anyone to take on in battle.

In Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, Mahoraga was once again summoned by Yuka Okkotsu during her battle against Dabura Karaba. Dabura versus Mahoraga ended up becoming the highlight of the Modulo series and evolved into a battle that fans all over the world absolutely relished. Even though Dabura himself was incredibly overpowered, thanks to his two Cursed Techniques of Murderous Intent and Light, Mahoraga was still able to deal with him without too much trouble, thanks to the powers of his adaptation. In fact, Gege Akutami, the creator of the series, also confirmed to us on May 1, 2026, in the final volume release of Modulo that the Mahoraga that Dabura fought was the absolute strongest of all seen in the series. It is unfortunate that this battle was the last time we will ever see Mahoraga in Jujutsu Kaisen, and for the very first time, this Shikigami is now dying forever in Modulo.

Why Mahoraga Is Set To Die In The Jujutsu Kaisen World

The last time we saw Mahoraga in Jujutsu Kaisen was in Modulo chapter 21, released officially on February 9, 2026, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #11. In this chapter, the battle between Dabura Karaba and Mahoraga reached its very pinnacle. While Mahoraga continued to adapt to Dabura's abilities, the Simurian himself continued to evolve his skill and invent powers like Cursed Technique Reversal and, finally, Domain Expansion. The last time we saw these two fight, Dabura utilized the power of his Domain Expansion to trap Mahoraga inside.

We did not get to see what happened inside the domain, but the last time we saw them, Mahoraga was trying to adapt to Dabura's very existence, meaning that no matter what, he could not be killed by Dabura Karaba.

In either case, Yuka Okkotsu's life was in danger because she was a part of the exorcism ritual. To that end, Dabura was simply sent back to his planet, Simuria, by Maru using his Chaos and Order technique in JJK Modulo Chapter 24. With their battle having ended, Yuka Okkotsu survived. Mahoraga was deactivated as well due to the exorcism ritual being canceled. This was unfortunately the last time we saw Mahoraga, and the reason is that Yuji Itadori, the protagonist of the series, officially chose to remove Cursed Energy from the next generation of sorcerers in Japan. In Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 24, released officially in March 2026 in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #14, Yuji and Maru together removed Cursed Energy from the next generation. This means that no one in the future will be born with any Cursed Techniques, and in other words, Yuka Okkotsu is the last user of Mahoraga we will ever see in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen.

Whether Yuka will ever summon Mahoraga again or not remains to be seen, but it is a fact that when Yuka dies, Mahoraga dies with her and will not exist in future JJK stories. Regardless of whether Gege Akutami returns in the future or not, Mahoraga is simply not going to be there, and that is truly a shame because, over the years, the Shikigami had become an incredibly powerful character that fans absolutely relished seeing in combat. Mahoraga especially shines when the strongest of sorcerers test their skills against it. In Shibuya, this was Ryomen Sukuna. In Shinjuku, this was Gojo Satoru. In Modulo, it was none other than Dabura Karaba. Unfortunately, the next generation of sorcerers will not have Mahoraga to test their skills against, and that truly is a shame. Yuji's decision to remove Cursed Energy from all sorcerers was certainly for the greater good, but at the same time, it removed quite a lot of exciting elements from the story that we have mixed feelings about.

Yuka Okkotsu Will Tame Mahoraga Before His End

Gege Akutami, the creator of Jujutsu Kaisen, has officially confirmed that Mahoraga is dying with Yuka Okkotsu and that we will never see this legendary Shikigami again. However, before that happens, it is highly likely that Yuka will, at some point, go on to tame Mahoraga fully. In all the history of the Zenin clan, no member has ever been able to tame Mahoraga fully. Ryomen Sukuna is the only individual who managed to pull this off, and Megumi Fushiguro could potentially have gotten access to a fully tamed Mahoraga due to Sukuna doing it in his body, although that remains unconfirmed. Other than this unique anomaly, no one else has ever been able to tame Mahoraga. Yuka Okkotsu could very well become the first person to do it.

The reason why taming Mahoraga is so difficult is that the user of the Ten Shadows Technique usually has to rely on the other Shikigami to take down Mahoraga. Given the drastic difference in power between Mahoraga and the other Shikigami, it becomes practically impossible for them to defeat it. However, Yuka Okkotsu's case is different, and this is because she has access to none other than the Queen of Curses, Rika. With Rika at her side, Yuka could potentially go on to kill Mahoraga in a single strike and tame it properly.

As such, she certainly stands a chance at taming this Divine General at some point in the future. If Yuka manages to fully tame Mahoraga, then she would stand a chance at becoming the next strongest sorcerer in the future, given that she also has Rika at her disposal. Hopefully, Gege Akutami will return at some point in the future to address whether Yuka tamed Mahoraga or not. In either case, the Divine General is dying forever after this, after the end of this user.
