skate. Season 5 has arrived, bringing players out of San Van and into the mountains with S.U.M.R. Camp, a new mega park built around speed, big air and plenty of room to find different lines down the mountain. The area features more than 30 paths along with massive ramps, bowls and some rougher terrain, while Premium Pass owners get early access through October 6. After that, other players can visit with a 24-hour pass purchased for 500 Rip Chips, which can be earned by completing Challenges and Bounties.
There’s a story tied into the new location as well, with City Councilor Slappy going missing and players working alongside Izzy to figure out what happened. The storyline plays out across six weeks, with the first three parts arriving throughout September and the remaining chapters coming later in the season. Rather than constantly sending players back into menus, the story mixes Missions and Bounties together while voiced updates play as progress is made.
Season 5 makes some noticeable changes back in San Van too, including an updated progression system built around Endless and Crew Bounties, non-expiring challenges and weekly Spotlight Challenges. Block Parties have returned as a full mode after being tested late last season, allowing as many as 150 players to jump into roaming events around the city without waiting in a queue. Spot Battles can now be started directly through the Throwdowns menu, giving players more control over where and how they want to compete.
The trick list gets some attention with 16 Underflip variations joining the game, along with improved footplants that include Judo, backside, frontside and Fast Plant variations. Skatepedia has been updated alongside those additions, while new Challenges and Bounties give players more reasons to work the tricks into their sessions. A new street park called Parry Point Park is coming to Hedgemont later in the season with update 0.32.5 as well.
There’s quite a bit to work through over the course of the season with 13 new Seasonal and Event Challenges, five Missions and more than 300 Bounties spread across daily, weekly, monthly and event activities. The Season 5 skate.Pass includes 110 tiers across its free and Premium tracks with cosmetics, gear and SVB available along the way. New partners include Converse, Baker, Deathwish, Online Ceramics, Primitive, Welcome, Krooked, Venture and There / Unity, giving the shops and pass another batch of clothing and skate gear to unlock.
The soundtrack is growing with 17 new songs at launch and more planned for the mid-season update, while October will bring another major seasonal event involving multiple locations, including Isle of Grom. There’s plenty more packed into Season 5, including the Vans Starter Pack, Dem Bones packs, Premium Pass rewards and other smaller additions. Head over to the official blog for additional details. The team also posted the full patch notes for update 0.32.0 here, providing a closer look at the quality-of-life improvements, fixes and other changes included with the update.
