Nintendo has shared a surprise Pikmin Day Direct, in which the legendary Shigeru Miyamoto declared that Pikmin Day will be celebrated on 1st November every year going forward.
“…starting this year we’re going to start calling November 1st Pikmin Day. In the first Pikmin game, released on Nintendo GameCube in 2002, the Red, Blue and Yellow Pikmin made their debut. If you imagine those three Pikmin as the number one, that makes November 1st… Pikmin Day,” Miyamoto explains. “At present, nine types of Pikmin have been discovered. I’m sure there are Pikmin around you, too.”
The Pikmin Day Direct covered Pikmin 4 Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy, alongside news about Secret Caves being added to Pikmin Bloom in an upcoming update, Fuka Koshiba being introduced as a Pikmin ambassador, and closing with a Pikmin original short movie from the “Hello! Pikmin” series.
Pikmin 4 Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy will be released at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch 2 worldwide on 12 November 2026.
