Digital Life & Growing Up Are Here in LIVORA
LIVORA has just received two major new Life systems: Digital Life & Online Presence and a much deeper Childcare, School & Growing Up experience.
Both have been designed around the same idea that sits at the heart of LIVORA: systems should connect to the Life you're already living rather than feel like separate mini-games.
Your Life now has an online side
Digital Life & Online Presence gives your character a persistent online world that changes as their Life changes.
Friends and family can share meaningful updates, you can join Groups connected to your interests and Community, reconnect with people from your past and build a professional network that can lead to genuine Career opportunities.
Online dating is part of the system too, but without turning LIVORA into a swipe simulator. You are shown a small number of plausible people, and if a connection develops they become a real persistent person in your Life. From there, LIVORA's existing Relationships system takes over.
Business owners also have an online presence. Customers can leave reviews, make enquiries, recommend your Business or raise complaints. A problem can develop into an ongoing situation rather than simply being replaced by another random review, and what happens online can affect the Business you actually run.
For characters who become more publicly visible, Digital Life goes further. Entering Politics or developing a significant public profile can bring more attention, public reaction and scrutiny.
Something you genuinely shared earlier in your Life can even return years later through your Digital Footprint.
There is no fabricated past for existing saves. If LIVORA did not previously record something, the new system will not pretend it happened.
Designed to avoid endless repetition
One of the biggest goals with Digital Life was making sure it did not become an endless feed of slightly different versions of the same thing.
There is no requirement to check it every day, no infinite scrolling and no follower grind.
Digital Life focuses on things that are actually relevant to your character. Sometimes there may only be one or two things worth seeing. Sometimes everything is quiet.
Ongoing situations can also develop over time. A customer complaint might lead to a response, a follow-up and eventually a resolution. An old colleague might reconnect before introducing you to a Career opportunity months later.
The aim is for your online Life to create stories rather than busywork.
Children now have much more of a Life of their own
The second major addition expands Childcare, School & Growing Up.
Children can now develop through childcare, nursery, school, friendships, interests, teenage independence, education choices and eventually adult Life.
Childcare arrangements connect with the rest of the household, including work, money and family circumstances, while ordinary routines generally stay in the background.
School becomes a persistent part of a child's history too. Their education can include school placements, transitions, meaningful reports, friendships, interests, activities and the occasional difficulty or important milestone.
Children are also much more individual.
Temperament, friendships, interests, school experiences, family circumstances and previous parenting all contribute to the person they become. Siblings living in the same household should not simply develop into copies of one another.
Parenting can matter years later
How you treat a child can now have longer-term consequences.
Showing up when they need you, listening, encouraging independence, keeping promises and supporting them through setbacks can strengthen the relationship over time.
Repeated pressure, broken promises, absence or ignoring what matters to them can also leave an impression.
It is not based on one perfect choice, though. Relationships can strengthen, drift and recover throughout a Life.
Teenagers gain their own independence
As children become teenagers, the relationship changes again.
They develop stronger preferences around friends, privacy, interests, school, social Life and their future. Parents can guide them and set boundaries, but they cannot simply choose everything on their behalf.
That includes GCSE choices, post-16 education, apprenticeships, work and other routes towards adulthood.
Teenagers also have their own Digital Life. Their online friendships, privacy and experiences belong to them, and how much they tell their parent can depend on the trust built throughout childhood.
Growing Up doesn't end at 18
Children can continue into higher education, apprenticeships or employment, leave home, return home, form adult relationships and eventually have families of their own.
Most importantly, they remain the same person throughout that entire journey.
Their identity, portrait, friendships, interests, education, memories and Digital Life continue with them.
If your character eventually dies and you choose to continue as one of their children, you are continuing as the person who genuinely grew up during that save rather than starting with a freshly generated replacement.
More improvements across LIVORA
Alongside both new systems, there has also been further work on:
- performance and responsiveness
- long-running Lives
- save and load behaviour
- UI consistency
- local-first gameplay
- reducing duplicated processing
- improving how large Life histories are handled
Routine online activity, childcare and school Life are deliberately kept in the background wherever possible, so LIVORA can focus on the decisions and moments that are actually worth your attention.
Digital Life now follows your Life online, while children have a much deeper journey from their earliest years all the way into adulthood.
